Today was one of those days where in the morning you see the train coming and just say 'ohhhh crap'. One of those mornings where you don't see any possible way you're going to fit on the train, but you step on anyway and squish yourself in, and then at the next stop you squish back even farther when more people get on. Buuuut it's all part of the culture and doesn't really bother me. Like the title says- Wednesdays are always good days. I only have class from 9:20-10:50 and then have the rest of the day to do whatever! A couple friends and I worked on planning our trip to Osaka next week. Our first break starts on Friday and goes through the next Sunday, so we're going to take a train to Osaka for a couple days, see the sights, and go to Universal Studios Japan!! I'm really excited.
After lunch and planning I took the subway home to rest, but I stopped in Fushimi and walked to Sakae where there is a Shonen Jump store (the weekly magazine where my favorite comic, One Piece, is published). I bought a big collection of old One Piece comics so I can practice reading in Japanese! Comics are good practice because all of the Kanji have their readings written next to them since all of the kids are still learning Kanji too. Plus, with this particular one I know the story well already, so I can fill in the gaps and learn new phrases.
Tonight was the big dinner! I cooked Grandma R's spaghetti recipe. I was nervous because I was having trouble converting to the metric system and was basically guessing on the amount of spices to put in. It all worked out really well though, and I think they loved it! I made tonnnnnns of food and we ate it all! I hope they didn't just eat it all just to be nice (this seems like a typical Japanese cultural thing to do).
Since my break starts Friday, I'm all done with school for about a week and a half starting tomorrow at 12:35!!! Woohoo!
Fact of the Day: In Japan I wear a size Double Large shoe. ..and in the US I wear an average 8.5
