Weekend

Summary of the weekend:
Friday-
One of my Japanese Sensei-s was sick so I had a shorter Japanese class than usual! After class I ate a whole mess of ramen and then walked to a huuuge department store where I bought some new shoes! I originally had plans to go out somewhere with my new Japanese friend Ako, but she was sick and didn't want to do anything. When I talked to her on the phone she said she was watching One Piece- my favorite anime! I had already said that I wasn't going to be home for dinner and I needed a new book so I stopped at Fushimi on the way home and then walked to Nagoya Station where there are lots of places to shop (it was free doing it this way). I ended up getting good ol Mickey D's for dinner again. It was delicious, naturally. It was nice to spend a night not having to do any homework or anything. I watched 20th Century Boys, the movie, on tv with the Yurikusas. The movie is based off of a long running comic and came out last August. Apparently it's a really big deal in Japan. I found a summary of it online, so I kind of knew what was going on.

Saturday-
For most of the day I did nothing but watch One Piece and sleep. No complaints! For lunch Mr. Y made some delicious fried rice. Apparently whenever he cooks, Toki gives his food a rating out of 10. He only gave the rice a five! I gave it a ten.
There is a kid from school who is living with a sushi chef and his wife and tonight at their restaraunt they were having all you can eat sushi, so I went there with some friends. There were about 12-15 foreign students there. It was tons of fun- they even had a little karaoke set. The sushi was really good, but had so much wasabi on it I had tears in my eyes!

Sunday-
For 99% of today I did absolutely nothing. I did do my History reading- a whopping 5 pages. I also watched lots of anime, and put a bunch on my ipod for my viewing pleasure while I'm on the subway! For lunch I had some soup with Udon noodles. Udon are round and very squishy but don't seem to have much taste. They're very different from Western style noodles. Tonight for dinner we had some pizza that Mrs. Y picked up at the store and some spaghetti noodles with mushrooms and giant clams. The clams looked a little intimidating but of course they tasted good.

Fact of the day: Sweets in Japan are, in fact, NOT SWEET! Cakes and such aren't very good because there just isn't much sweetness in them. Most Japanese people think American desserts are too sweet.
