Sunday

I was kind of a bum today, but I didn't really mind. I slept in then laid in bed and chatted on aim for a while. I didn't even get dressed until about 2pm. I did, however do homework. I had already finished everything for tomorrow so I started working on stuff due Tuesday. I'll probably make a habit of that because I have class from 9:20-5:30 on Mondays and won't have tons of time to do stuff.

I was thinking of going shopping at the clothes by weight place today but decided to go to the Chunichi Dragons store instead. The Dragons are Nagoya's baseball team. They're pretty good- last year the won the championship! The Japanese player that just signed with the Braves (Kawakami?) played for the Dragons last year. The store was waaay across town by the dome where the Dragons play but I had time to kill so i made the trip. In Japan cell phones all have a little loop where you can tie things on, and EVERYONE has little charms on there. I had been looking for a cool charm whenever I passed by a cool looking store but hadn't found one until today. I found a cute little Hello Kitty dressed in a Dragons uniform! I also got a player TShirt, and a keychain for Toki with his favorite player on it that I'm going to give him for his birthday next weekend. They had some really cool jerseys that I'd like to get this spring if I have money.

Tonight for dinner we had some kind of grilled fish- I'm not sure what. As usual it was really good. Dinner each night always consists of four things: salad, rice, soup, and an entree- usually some kind of meat. Every time we have something Toki really likes he saves his favorite part for last. Tonight his favorite part was mushrooms, so he put them in a separate bowl, and while he was eating his parents kept trying to steal them. He's a character as usual.

Well, I'll be in class all day tomorrow so I don't know if there will be anything to report, unless my Calligraphy or History classes are really interesting!

Interesting Fact of the Day: In Japan fashion is WAY different. Everything is... brighter. There is too much to say about guys and girls fashion so I'll just do guys tonight. The guys all have really flashy jackets- red is really common and so is purple. Black is also pretty common but like the others it's always a really shiny black. Camo pants are also pretty common for guys. One notable thing about guys here is that the dress a lot more feminine than American guys. Many have longer hair (sometimes dyed blonde, and bright colors are more common than in America), and everyone carries a bag- whether it's a purse or a messenger bag. The bags are also always really bright and shiny. My bag is bright yellow and fits right in. Sometimes it's hard to tell the guys from the girls if you can't see their face.

  1. Go Dragons! Now we have two teams to root for - the STL Cardinals and the Chunichi Dragons! I hope you can see some games while you're there!

P.S. Do the Dragons have a closer they could part with? The Cardinals could use one! :)

  2. Might the Dragons want Kosuke Fukudome back? The Cubs could have plucked Peavy w/ the money they're spending (wasting) on Kosuke...
